Testing from my phone

October really?

So I am bad at keeping up. But we don't have Internet at home. OR do we? We might. I just need to go home and see if the modem has been delivered. And then I promise to update you on my life - the dog, the house, the husband and southern Indiana in general. Until then....

And the Rest!

Here's some more pictures of the house.....
New lamps from a lady at church in the huge living room!

I'm using our new vacuum. Its not really new, but the whole time we lived in Chicago we didn't get to use it much because the apartment was small and all hardwood floors. It works pretty great if I do say so myself. And the carpet in this room is pretty good so we are keeping it. Did I mention this room is huge? And has awesome windows.

I heart Vacuuming!!!!
This is going to be the guest bedroom someday. Please not that the washing and dryer are currently occupying this space. We don't know why you would put them in probably the largest bedroom in the house, but hey, to each their own.
Bathroom - Its black and blue and now very clean. There is no shower in the bathroom just a tub. Another project for someday.

Hi Momma. I'm alive and well :)

This ones for you Daddy - Just wanted to let you know I'm useful. I changed the toilet seat the first night we were in the house!!! And I was wearing really stylish gloves. This is the room we are going to be using as our bedroom. So I guess you could call it the master. Ha.
And there you have it. Our humble abode. Come Visit!!!

Welcome to my Kitchen

The Kitchen is to your right as you walk into the house. The dining room is to the left. And there are two walls between them - or there was yesterday. Today there is just some wall studs. We decided to take those walls out to open the kitchen/dining room up. Here's a little tour.....

That's Joe-Joe in the kitchen. The cupboards were all built into the house. I think I might want to paint them, but they all are in good shape. Please note the window seat in the middle of the countertop. And the nice clean fridge on the right :)Here's the kitchen from the inside. The wall Joe is leaning against is gone now. Someday soon there will be an island in the middle, but that might have to wait until another day.
Another shot of Joe Joe. He likes to be in all the pictures. Note the awful carpet.
Twanda!!!Wall in the dining room. Again Joe Joe likes to be in the pictures :)
Cutting the wall down in the dining room.

Now looking down the hallway. Walls missing. Now all there is to do is move a gas line, move some electrical, build some temporary support walls, tear down these walls, and put in a header.

Jonathan in the Kitchen - from the dining room. Already the whole place looks brighter.

Jonathan is a good sweeper and that's is one clean fridge!

Welcome Home Seger Family!

We got the house! We got the house! And we now have a lot to do to it. And a lot of pictures to show you. So I am going to break them up into several posts.

Here is our side door, which if you know us this is where you come in - so this is the door you will use :)Door bell! I doesn't work - yet.

Life Happens

Well I haven't written a word in two weeks. Life Happens. Here's an update on what we have been up to.

  • Joe ran a mini-tri today. He finished in the top third out of everyone. I am very proud of him, especially because he trained very little beforehand. Jonathan, Michael and Dane also ran it - Jonathan even did the marathon distance!
  • We were supposed to get the house today/yesterday but they are still working on getting it cleaned out. The man who owned it called and he thinks they should be out by Wednesday, Friday at the latest. And it has to be by Saturday because that's what our contract says.
  • I've been canning, thanks to my new pressure cooker and the Ball Book of Canning.

Nothing else to report. Its hot again in Indiana. 90's the last couple of days. Oh well, at least it wasn't like this all July.

SOLD!

Today was a big day for us - we bought a house. Yes, on Schuetter Road in Jasper we own a little peace of the world. It has a whole acre of yard behind it perfect for a dog - I can't wait to get one.
Here's Joe signing the papers!
And here I am. We signed our names 34 times.

And then we drove past the house after we signed for it just to take a picture. Here is is.

And then we saw this. I actually yelled 'SOLD, SOLD,' Joe didn't even know the sign was there, I was just yelling. And then he saw it too. The realtor must have just run right over and changed it. It was so exciting!!
And now in 22 days we will be able to move in and make it our own home. I can't wait to show you pictures of the inside.

The Garden!

Our garden is booming! Everything seems to be coming up at once. Sometimes its overwhelming how God has blessed us with this bounty. But we are passing it around to our friends and family and hoping they all enjoy!

I got a new camera - takes nice pics right?

We put hay between the plants to keep the weeds away. I have some experience with shaking up some hay - I just hate doing it in the summer. But anything for my tomatoes!

We are getting a ton of watermelon!

The cherry tomatoes are are earliest and delicious!
Cute tomatoes on the windowsill

Kohlrabi - tastes kinda like cabbage with a hint of radish.

That's a good looking radish!
A Cucumber! We have hundreds!

Even our Cucumbers are happy!

Then we grilled them with bar-b-q sauce

The beans just started coming up - I had one today and they were good! I can't wait to make pot licker :)

New Camera, New Road Rash

My new camera came Wednesday. I bought it a cute little case and have been carrying it everywhere with me for the past couple of days. Including the emergency room.

Joe has been training for a triathlon - his brother talked him into it. And his friend M is doing it too. Yesterday Joe and Michael go for a bike ride. Everything was going fine until Joe saw a spot in the path that kinda "ramped up" He yelled 'RAMP' so that there would be no doubt that he was going to go flying off of it. And fly he did. He has actually been describing this moment as "flying like ET." So he didn't land as well as ET did.

He has a hole in his arm. The ER doc says he will be fine. I wish we could say the same for his wife.

Here is a picture of the hole in his arm. If you don't like gross stuff, don't look.

What do you think of my new cameras skills?

1 Year!

Its our anniversary. And it is true that marriage was only the beginning. So much has happened in the last 365 days. We've moved to Chicago and set up a home, moved from Chicago and set up camp at Joe's Moms, bought a car, a house, changed jobs twice.

Here is a quick reminder of how much fun we were having last year at this time.
